In 2025, one of my projects was to photograph the LGBTQIAPN+ Pride Parade in Campinas. I wanted to do it on film — slide, color negative, and black and white — using flash and staying close. But above all, I wanted to photograph people.
The Parade is collective, yet made up of individuals. My focus was on portraits, on the gazes that reveal themselves amid loud music, color, and euphoria. Many of the people who passed in front of my lens may not be able to fully exist as they are outside that space. On that day, however, there was freedom. There was belonging.
The challenge was to go beyond documenting the event and try to reach, in the eyes of each person portrayed, a glimpse of their essence.
To the LGBTQIAPN+ community — thank you. From smile to smile, you turned images into something even greater.
